Hospitality Wellness Program Earns National APEX Award

New York, NY, September 4, 2015 – Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group (BBHG), an industry leader in hospitality, announced it has received a National APEX Award for its BBHGoodHealth Corporate Wellness Program, Using the Language of Food to Communicate Health & Wellness.

Partnering with their group employee benefits broker, Corporate Synergies, BBHG developed a strategy to provide BBHG employees with the ability to engage with the organization, and to each other through Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and YouTube. The campaign launched in July 2014.

The basis of the program is to use social media to engage employees and promote education and communication around wellness. “We needed to immerse our employees in their benefits programs and personal health,” said Meghan Liu, Benefits & Wellness Manager at BBHG. “We have a diverse group of employees across multiple offices and restaurants and working with Corporate Synergies allowed us develop an efficient and effective way to deliver information to them. The APEX Award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity and vision of the program.”

BBHG required a cost-effective way to deliver their wellness messaging to their geographically separated employees and to better engage them in their benefits programs and personal health. “There was a strong commitment among BBHG’s principals to be innovative and drive change in their organization,” said Gary Cassidy, Director of Wellness for Corporate Synergies. “The initial communication strategy used printed materials to create awareness of the BBHGoodHealth campaign and to drive employees to engage in social media with the goal of enabling faster and regular communications,” Cassidy said.

Enterprise wide, BBHG employs 2,500 employees in 24 locations. As of August 2015 the company was experiencing widespread employee engagement in social networking platforms Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and YouTube.

The APEX Awards are based on excellence in editorial content, graphic design and the ability to achieve overall communications brilliance. The Grand Award honors outstanding works in each main category, while the Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in each of the individual categories.
