Wine & Words: A Book Drive & Cocktail Hour

Join Corporate Synergies and ADP for cocktails in the “Rare Book Room” at the landmark Strand Book Store on Broadway.

Bring or buy a book (or three) for our collection benefitting Book Fairies, a 501(c)3 charity for children and young adults in need across NYC and on Long Island.

ACCEPTABLE:

  • Books in good condition, from baby through adult, published in the last 20 years.
  • College-level textbooks published within the past 10 years.

NOT ACCEPTABLE:

  • Encyclopedias
  • Magazines
  • CDs/DVDs
  • Faith-based books

About Book Fairies

Book Fairies collects and distributes new and gently used books to under-resourced communities across Long Island, NYC and internationally to directly impact literacy rates. Increasing access to books inspires the love of reading, promotes academic success, and expands life opportunities. 

About Strand Book Store

Strand Bookstore, founded in 1927 on New York City’s “Book Row,” is a renowned independent bookstore known for its vast collection of new, used and rare books. Now expanded to 4 locations, it remains a family-owned business and a cultural landmark in the city’s literary scene.

Harrison Newman specializes in addressing the employer’s benefits and financial requirements through in-depth research, strategic plan design, claims data analysis, and diligent negotiations. He partners with the appropriate Corporate Synergies experts and resources to ensure client satisfaction. He manages the strategic process, monitors and executes the business plan, coordinates the team and ensures the delivery of exceptional client service. His objective is to simplify benefits for employers and their employees and support all stakeholders in achieving the best possible value for the benefits dollar. Previously he served as an Executive Benefits Consultant with GFI Insurance Brokerage, where he specialized in selling and servicing complicated fully insured and self-funded products. Prior to that he was an agent with Aflac. Harrison earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Resources and Development from Brooklyn College, The City University of New York. He holds licenses in Life and Health and Property & Casualty. He is an active board member of New York City SHRM, where he chairs the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee and the Benefits Special Interest Group.

Rachel is a Senior Account Manager based out of the New York City office. As a trusted advisor focused on client satisfaction, Rachel provides exceptional service and effective communication to ensure her clients’ objectives are met. Rachel is responsible for day-to-day client support and coordinating with other Corporate Synergies teams to execute the client’s benefits program. Rachel partners with her clients, and through strategizing on renewal, open enrollment, and impactful initiatives such as benefits education and employee engagement, ultimately delivers measurable results. Prior to joining Corporate Synergies, Rachel worked as Assistant Vice President of Account Management at Jaeger & Flynn Associates in Clifton Park, NY, overseeing a staff of 27. Prior to that, Rachel began her insurance career as a large group Account Manager at MVP Healthcare, a regional insurance company serving NY, VT and NH, based in Schenectady, NY.
