Eric Raymond, Corporate Synergies’ CEO, to Speak at DVHRP Annual Summit

The Annual Delaware Valley HR Partnership Summit, Monday, October 15, 2007 — a dynamic consortium of local SHRM chapters — is dedicated to defining HR trends, best practices, and new models so you can grow, lead, and achieve success as an HR leader.

This summit provides a wide array of educational sessions across six professional development tracks featuring local and respected speakers as well as networking opportunities with like-peers.

Executive Summary of Eric Raymond’s Presentation:
Remaking the American Healthcare Model

Countless models have been proposed to fix the allegedly broken American Healthcare System. To date, each of these solutions attempts to tweak the existing structure through the addition or subtraction of key elements inherent in the present methodologies or through mimicking a current program used elsewhere. However, given the uniqueness of the American system, these strategies frequently overlook opportunities that have been assumed to be "givens" in the program. This program looks at the rise of the American model and investigates some of the underlying assumptions that may preclude meaningful change. In doing so, the program seeks to uncover more dramatic and substantive options to meeting the challenges faced in the delivery of health coverage to 300 million diverse individuals in this country.

Some of the items to be discussed:

  • Healthcare: Right or Privilege?
  • The Rise of Employer-Based Medical Insurance
  • Integrated Health Models; Tax Implication of the American Medical System
  • Government Intervention in the Design of Health
  • Medical Delivery in a Capitalistic System
  • The Imposition of Utilization Management and Provider Compensation Alternatives

Attendees of the summit will receive 4 HRCI credits.
