Caremark will be implementing important changes to their “Performance Drug List” effective April 1, 2008. Caremark’s changes the Performance Drug List is focused on the following:
- Adding products that have demonstrated enhanced clinical efficacy, while providing more convenient dosage forms
- Removing products that require less convenient therapy dosage, have more side effects, and may cost more when compared to available options on the Caremark Drug List

The Performance Drug List plays a critical role in the success of your prescription benefit plan. The medications included are selected to provide the best therapeutic options to you at the lowest cost. It's a good idea to take a copy of the Performance Drug List with you when you visit your physician. Remember, generics should be considered first as a cost effective way to manage your healthcare benefit costs.
