Reminder: Massachusetts Health Care Reform Update and Deadlines!
This applies to all employers with employees who reside in Massachusetts

Our May 2006 eAlert provided a brief overview of what the State of Massachusetts had in mind for Healthcare Reform. Now, as details become finalized and deadlines loom, we want to ensure you are aware of your regulatory responsibilities.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU AS AN EMPLOYER
As the target date nears for the next round of action steps under the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Program, employers need to be mindful of the items necessary to meet those obligations. Although all of the processes have not been clearly defined even at this late date, groups must be prepared to implement the required items. Corporate Synergies will continue to provide updates on this evolving regulation as details become available.

Important short-term considerations:

  • Implementation of a Section 125 program for pre-tax employee contributions (July 1, 2007 Deadline)
  • Issuance of employer Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure (HIRD) forms (November 15, 2007 Deadline)
  • Issuance of employee Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure (HIRD) forms (July 1, 2007 Deadline) Click here for the Updated 2007 Employee HIRD Form
  • Determination of employer's "Fair Share" contribution amount
  • Development of the Annual Health Insurance Coverage Statement
  • Expansion of the Dependent definition, as required
