As a consumer and benefits plan administrator, you’re not the only one responsible for managing rising healthcare costs. In an effort to control the overall cost and access to lab services, Aetna has decided to make a change to their national lab network contract. Effective July 1, 2007, Quest Diagnostics becomes Aetna’s preferred provider of diagnostic testing, information and services.
HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU AS AN EMPLOYER
Labcorp will no longer be a network provider effective July 1, 2007. Please be sure to forward this email to your employees.
The new agreement between Aetna and Quest means an improved laboratory cost structure to you, as a member, and your physicians. This new network will meet your needs through:
- Size: Quest offers an extensive nationwide network of testing sites, with more than 2,000 patient service centers, approximately 150 rapid response laboratories, 30-plus regional laboratories and esoteric (specialized) testing laboratories.
- Physician Use: The majority of Aetna participating primary care physicians already have selected Quest to provide laboratory testing services for their patients. Aetna will be reaching out to the rest so they can make arrangements that best meet the needs of their patients, who are Aetna members.
- Convenient Sites: There are at least two Quest or local participating facilities within 5 miles of LabCorp sites, so this change can be made with little or no access disruption.
Again, please make note that LabCorp will no longer be a network provider, effective July 1, 2007, so please forward this communication to your employees. To view FAQs regarding coverage, please click here.
