Preventing Seasonal Flu: Get Vaccinated!

 

Aetna members will be able to obtain a flu shot from any Maxim Health Systems clinic location at the same benefit level they would if they received the flu shot from their physician. This arrangement is part of Aetna’s ongoing contract with Maxim. 

Maxim Health Systems administers the flu shot at more than 20,000 retail facilities and corporations across the nation, using their own staff. The flu shot clinics are being held October 1 through mid-November 2007. In the event of a vaccine shortage, Maxim will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and may need to cancel clinics or limit the vaccine to at-risk persons.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU AS AN EMPLOYER
By encouraging employee’s to obtain a flu shot, it may help decrease the occurrence of the flu in your corporation or organization. Influenza is one of the leading causes of absenteeism from work. Unlike the common cold, the flu can leave a person unable to function for several days, a problem that plagues companies across the globe. The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.

HOW DO I FIND A MAXIM HEALTH SYSTEMS CLINIC?

There are two ways members can find the Maxim flu clinic nearest to them. They can:

  • Go to Maxim’s website at www.findaflushot.com and enter their zip code and the distance they want to travel, or
  • Call Maxim’s automated locator system 24 hours a day; 7 days a week toll free at 1-866-466-2976 and enter their area code and the first digits of their telephone number. Members calling the Aetna-dedicated toll-free number for Maxim can obtain information about the flu shots in English or Spanish.

As with visits to any health care professional, Members should take their Aetna ID card with them when visiting a Maxim flu clinic. Maxim is not collecting fees at the flu shot clinics from Aetna members who present their Aetna ID card. Maxim will first bill Aetna and will later bill the member for any part of the $22.50 negotiated fee not covered by the member’s benefits plan. Members who do not present their Aetna ID cards will be asked to pay the public fee at the time the flu shot is given.

Note:

  • Maxim does not administer the flu shot to children under 9 years of age.
  • Maxim flu clinics held at Costco locations are for Costco members only.
