Former Phillies Catcher Darren Daulton will be making a special appearance as a celebrity server to benefit the SaVes4ALS program on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at McFadden’s at Citizens Bank Park. The special event will run from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Darren will be joined by 1993 teammate Mitch Williams to meet and talk with fans and friends.

“SaVes4ALS,” sponsored by Mt. Laurel, N.J.- based Corporate Synergies Group, Inc., an employee benefits consulting firm, provides donations to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association based upon pledges by the program’s corporate sponsors. Each save recorded by a Phillies pitcher during the Phillies season earns a donation from these sponsors according to one of three pledge levels.
During his 14 year career as a Major League Baseball catcher, first with the Phillies and then with the Florida Marlins, Darren became known for the skill, tenacity and strong leadership he demonstrated on the field and in the clubhouse. In 1993, he played a key role with the team that captured the hearts of fans as they made it to the World Series.
Darren’s support of the SaVes4ALS program grows out of this role as a leader. “As a catcher who worked with many relief pitchers I came to appreciate their critical role in the success of a team. They brought to the mound a passion for getting the Save that would bring us victory,” said Daulton.
“I see in SaVes4ALS Founders Suzanne Bruce and Ellen Brosso the same kind of passion for a Save that brings a victory to a person diagnosed with ALS,” he continued. “It is impressive that local corporations are joining together to raise funds that stay with the local ALS Association chapter. This is why I’m honored to be supporting this innovative program that is clearly a leader in helping others.”
Tickets for the event, which is open to the public, are $25.00 per person. Each ticket will include an autographed copy of Darren’s new book, If They Only Knew.
